Guidelines for Parallel Parking
Parallel parking is the usual way of parking unless the signage tells otherwise. The following are the guidelines for parallel parking.
- Park your vehicle in the same direction as that of the adjacent traffic, parallel, and as much near to the kerb as possible, so that minimum obstruction is caused to the mainstream traffic due to the parked vehicle.
- The parked vehicle should be entirely within the marking lines of vehicle parking (if any).
- You should maintain at least one meter distance from any other parked vehicle. This distance between the vehicles will help you to take the vehicle out from the parking lot safely.
- Do not park your vehicle adjacent to a parked vehicle obstructing the carriageway (Double parking).
